SYNOPSIS: Jack asks Ava to hang out for the day.

NOTES: Early in the day, he asks Ava to hang out - ultimately finding something out; the last thing he ever expected.

Country music, again? Jack squinted an eye open to focus on the alarm clock blaring to the side. 8:00am country music, no less. That mother fucker. Rolling his shoulder, he threw his arm in the direction of the end table where the annoyance was reverberating throughout his skull. Dropping his dead weight arm down onto it, he nailed the button on top finally silencing it. Basking in the silence for a moment, and only a moment, because the damn thing went off again. Son of a bitch. This time, he sat up, his eyes flashing black and he focused on the clock before silence once again covered the room. Not only had Tag set his alarm once again, but this time he hexed it so that it would continue to go off. Why was he his best friend again? What a fucking asshole. Wiping his hands over his face, he turned to look back at the now mute alarm clock. Thanks to his powers. However, now he was awake. Which was Tag's goal all along. Grunting, he threw the covers off of him and to the side. Legs swinging over, his feet pressed to the floor and he arose to his full potential. Now, rubbing his eyes, he trudged over to his desk to retrieve his cell phone from its charger. Punching in the numbers, he sent a message over to his asshole of a best friend, then set it back down to wait for a reply.

What the hell was he going to do now that he was up so early? Ugh. This was why he slept so much. Especially on the weekends; through the mornings. And if Tag was so intent on waking him up, why couldn't he hang around the dorm so that Jack actually had something to do now that he was so rudely awakened. He knew the other guys were sleeping, and thought to wake them up anyway. They'd be pissed, too, but he didn't care. Then another thought entered his mind. Ava. The sexy brunette was always on his mind. ...when he wasn't pissed at Tag for waking him up at the ass crack of dawn, at least. He'd been around her a lot, especially since Sierra and Tag had started dating. He'd always been attracted to her, but never really had the nerve to talk to her much. Until forced to be in direct contact with her, then he'd loosened up. Now that she was on his mind, he thought about calling her. She was a morning person, right? Okay, so he totally didn't know if she was or not, but he'd pretend to think she was so that he could put in a call to her. Before he changed his mind, he picked up his phone. He didn't have many people in his contact's list, so Ava was first on the list. As he brought the phone to his ear, he awaited an answer on the other line. Though after the second ring, he hung it up. What was he thinking calling the girl he was totally into so early in the morning? She'd thing he was crazy. Fuck Tag. Fuck him so hard. That's when he received the text message back from him. Cockslap. He is a cockslap.

Turning to make his way to the bathroom, he stopped before reaching the door and turned to glance at the bed closest to the door. A grin spread across his face as he redirected his path to Tag's bed. If he was a big dick, he would have peed on his pillow, but he simply decided to release himself on the edge of his bed instead. He was pleased with himself, and would probably be a dead man when Tag found out. He would tell him by the end of the night, just to see the look on his face. His silent cheer of victory was cut short by the ringing of his cell. After tucking himself back in, he darted back to grab at his phone. He glanced at who was calling, before grinning and flipping it open. "Hey, Ava..." He listened carefully, trying to decide on whether or not his original phone call to her had woken her up - or if she had actually been awake and had just missed the phone. Either way, she called him back, and that was a good thing!

Stepping in the door Ava tried not to make too much noise in fear she would wake up the sleeping beast aka Sierra. Walking towards her bed she sat her things down on the nightstand before she plopped down on her bed. Taking her shoes off she looked around the room which was a complete mess she knew she needed to straighten up her side, but she has been so lazy she just kept hoping it would clean itself. So far no luck there. Stretching her arms over her head she slowly stood up and walked to her dresser kicking her toe on the corner of her bed. Muffing the sounds of pain she swore under her breath before she finally made it to her dresser. Grabbing clothes, her back she takes with her whenever she showers, and a pair of showering shoes she slipped them on her feet. Walking towards the door she slipped out undetected and walked down the hall towards the bathroom.

She was so tired, but since she was little she has always ran 2 miles every morning to try to keep in shape. The last thing she wanted to do was end up a fat overweight woman. She had an image of herself and always wanted to keep it in tip-top shape. 6am on the dot her cell phone went off letting her know that once again a night of sleep was over and she must face the start of a new day. Unlike most people she was use to only running on a few hours of sleep, but when she slept she slept like a rock and for long periods of time. There was too much going on in life to sleep it all away even if it was just sitting in her room listen to music, hanging out with her friends, or whatever else. Plus, with a roommate like Sierra who was always humping her boyfriend she can’t always get the sleep she wants which is why she relies on Tag’s best friend to give her a nice place to stay and sleep.

Arriving in the bathroom a few short minutes later she showered quickly and began getting ready. It was early and no one in their right mind gets up on the weekend at these time. She had no idea what she would do to feel the void until the rest of the world got up from bed. An hour had pasted before she found herself collection her things and heading back to her room. Reaching the door she stepped inside and tossed the dirty clothes in the basket and swore to herself when she saw her cell phone sitting all alone on her stand. She must have forgotten it when she went to shower. Picking it up she didn’t really expect anyone to have called but she checked anyways. Seeing there was a message from Jack she quickly called him back. It looks like someone beside her was up which meant they could maybe hang out. Listening to the phone ring once, then twice, and then his voice a small smile took a hold of her lips and she spoke. “Hey babe, sorry I missed your call.” They weren’t a couple but she always called him babe it was her way of being cute and friendly towards him. Too bad if anyone besides Sierra heard her they would think she was fraternizing with the enemy.

Jack, on the other hand, slept much more than he needed to. Though, now that he was paling around with Ava a lot more recently, he didn't get as much sleep as he normally did. Which wasn't a downside by any means. Jack didn't date too much, but that had always been his choice. Having the powers he had, he never really wanted a girl that he liked to get involved with him in fear of something happening to them. He'd never be able to forgive himself if his heritage got a girl into some kind of trouble. Especially Ava. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt like this - if ever. He spent a lot of time arguing with himself, weighing the options. She seemed as if she was into him, and if the other guys could have girlfriends, he could certainly get involved. It was the personal opinion he held on the matter that stopped him. Though, it wouldn't stop him from hanging out with her by any means.

It was always interesting to see how Ava, and her three other friends always seemed to travel in a group like he did. She reminded him a lot of himself at times. Aside from the traveling in a group of four, she always seemed the most lax of the group. With the wild best friend that she often had to be the one to watch and try to tame. They related over this stuff, a lot, too.

Leaning back on his desk, with the phone pressed to his ear he grinned as he eyed the spot on Tag's bed that he had soiled. "It's cool." He responded, turning his attention solely onto the brunette on the other line. It hadn't sounded like he had woken her up, which was good. "I didn't wake you, did I?" It didn't hurt to ask, however. "Tag set my alarm so that I woke up at 8, he's an asshole." He laughed, shaking his head as his eyes still rested on the wet spot. "So, I figured I'd give you a call see if you wanted to hang out or something?" They were pretty much a couple, without the title. And if he had any enemies out there - it didn't really matter whether they had a title or not. It was the fact that he cared about her, and that could be used against him.

He wished he could have the attitude that Tag had. He was comfortable about dating because he knew he could take care of Sierra if anything happened. And while he was sure he could do the same for Ava, he didn't think it was fair to her to chance it. "I still have to take a shower, so you've got some time if you need it, I just figured I'd send a call your way." He cleared his throat, awaiting an answer.

Beautiful, smart, kind, headstrong…were just some of the qualities that defined who Ava was. Growing up the way she did she learned not to let people into her world not knowing how they would react. There was more to her than just a pretty face people saw on the outside which is what guys saw most of the time. She would be lying if she said she never dated because she had, but her type the type she felt the safest around were the type that didn’t care about getting to know her. She felt it was easier to hid her true being and it was easier to break up with someone when there wasn’t a true connection there. When it came to Jack there has always been something there that was always too hard to explain. She felt like he got her in ways no one else ever had. Since the moment she laid eyes on him she liked him and to be honest many things didn’t scare her but this did. She wanted to be close to him but at the same time she feared it. Was is possible? Did it actually make since? She didn’t know nor did she really attempt to try to justify her thoughts. She just rolled with the punches and tried not to get too a head of herself.

Since Sierra and Tag began dating Ava and Jack seemed to click well. When the other two were off gallivanting around with each other she still had someone to hang out with. She knew it caused friction with others from her “group” because she was born and raised to hate his kind but she couldn’t. In her eyes, he nor did any of his friends do anything wrong. If over time some of the worst people can be forgiven then why couldn’t they? She never was the type to fall protocol when it came to who she could and couldn’t talk to. She has enough sense of her own to know when to stay clear of people and this was not one of those times. He has been nothing but incredible towards her and she felt he deserved the same respect. Maybe it was the fact she had the hots for him that clouded her judgment, maybe she just wanted to experience a real relationship in time, or maybe she saw the way Tag treated Sisi and knew Jack would treat her as great if not better. There was only one problem that seemed to creep into her mind every once in awhile. Jack nor Tag knew the truth about them and if they ever found out she didn’t know how they would react. Would they be scared? Would they want to fuck their brains out right there? Would it change things between them for better or worse? What if someone came after them and used their weakness for each other against them. They were on mere thoughts in her head and as concerned as she was at times until those moments came she had nothing to worry about.

At this point, she plopped down on her bed and rested against her pillow. She held the phone against her ear as she listened to him speak, “No you didn’t! I go running every morning so I am always up around this time.” She kind of sounded like a loser, but she enjoyed running not just because she kept in shape but because it also helped her clear her mind and become one with nature or some bullshit like that. “Aww poor baby, Tag is a douche.” She liked Tag, but that didn’t stop her from cracking on him or giving him shit the same went for Jack. Sitting up more on the bed she pulled her legs to her body and looked over at Sisi who was still sleeping like a rock. “Sure, I’d like that. I don’t feel like sitting in my room waiting for the beast to get up.” When he said he had to shower still she figured while he was doing that she could straighten up her room a little so that later she could go wash some clothes since they were all starting to smell like ass.

I guess, you could say they were a couple in their own right. They didn’t have a title, but they had a silent understanding of what was going on between them. There were no other guys in her life and she didn’t mind it. To her Jack was the perfect match for her.

Jack had never really been the "simple-minded" type. Being the silent one most of the time, didn't mean that the wheels in his head weren't constantly turning. Thoughts about school, about life, about their craft were always processing through his brain. Out of the other guys, save maybe Adam, he would be the one at Putnam's barn constantly thumbing throughout the book that recorded their history. It was all fascinating to him, but at the same time he wanted to be on his toes with everything. Some would say Jack was the studious type, because he typically got good grades, but he certainly was no scholar. It was a wonder he got decent grades as it was, for the simple fact that he slept so much. He rarely studied. His school books, that is. However, he knew the book of damnation practically word for word.

That's why the boys rarely made their way to the Putnam barn at all, because they had Jack around to recite something for them if need be. Though, they never really needed it. They had skated through without incident for four years now; since they'd come into their powers. Just like their fathers had before them, at least until Adam's dad's ascension approached. That's when that fifth bloodline had reared it's head. Now that they were all turning seventeen, they really needed to be on the lookout. If anyone was coming for them, it would be after they ascended. Now, in Jack's eyes, would be quite possibly the worst time to get involved with someone. However, he couldn't live the rest of his life worrying and being alone because of it. Was that selfish? He didn't know. And he typically didn't talk about what was on his mind. It stayed right there, processing through his brain as if one day he'd wake up and suddenly have a solution to it all. Fat chance.

He had pushed himself off of leaning onto the desk, and had moved to slip on his flip flops. He'd never use the shower shoes. Grabbing his bag of shampoo and soap, he paused in place again to wrap up the conversation. "Oh, okay, good." At least now he knew for sure she'd be awake the next time Tag woke him up. "It's alright, I pissed on his bed." He laughed at that, also laughing when she referred to Sierra as a beast. He was surprised that Tag was awake, but wasn't with Sierra. He was probably at the gym, kissing his muscles or something equally as narcissistic. "Alright, since Sierra's there, you can meet me here in about ten minutes?" His feet picked up again, this time to grab a towel as he exited the room, heading for the showers.

Since Ava was a little girl she couldn’t wait until the day she came into her powers. She knew it all came with a price, but it was always a price she was willing to pay. She always knew she was different, but never until the moment her mother and grandmother sat her down and told her what their world was really about. It wasn’t a fairy tale by any means, but a look into how horrible and despicable people could really be. A thing that should have brought people together only tore them apart. But what Ava could never understand was the reason why. It was clear looking back through the history books that male and females alike would have died to keep their gift secret but before anyone was given the opportunity to work things out they dismissed each other using a well known secret into a way to save their own asses. Ava always dreamed about how if she had lived back then she would have tried her hardest to bring the covenants together. Her mother always laughed at her ability to look at the world in more than just one shade and commended her on her assertiveness but in the back of her mother’s mind the young imagination of a girl could never bring the two together. There was a bigger picture there than what met the eye. There was more than just that working against the combination of a harmonious truth. People were scared for their lives and would have done anything to keep their secrets as they were.

As time went on she began to really understand what was going on but that still didn’t make her accept the fact that she had to be a part of the feud. What had happened, in her eyes, was done and over with. People in modern day time viewed witch craft as something they could make money off of by basing Tv shows and movies off of it. Witch craft now was nothing more than a way to earn a bit of money by allowing people to believe that it was nothing more than a bunch of hocus pocus. If they only knew the truth they would see that there was more to life than just black and white that there were forces beyond the grasp of everyday life. For Ava, she knew that if anyone found out that she would be turned into some type of freak because she was different. She knew that she couldn’t compare a gift like hers to red hair, freckles, braces, a big nose, or something else people would dislike another for. This is why she ran to clear her mind of thoughts like these the ones that make her want to crawl into a ball and hide from the world or stand on the roof tops shooting ‘I am a witch, hear me roar.’ The gift was only a part of who she was not what she was completely about. She was like any other girl in the school. She liked boys, shopping at the mall, taking her car for a spin, partying, hanging out with friends, and everything that makes a person a person. When she was at school all these thoughts and feelings drifted away as she gossiped about the school slut, rooted for her team during a basketball game, or giving her all during a tennis tournament. She knew that they came along way and was proud of who she was.

Holding the phone close to her ear she nearly choked on her spit as she laughed at the image of Jack pissing on Tag. She knew he would flip a shit when he found out and wished she had a video camera to catch the epic waking up and rolling over into the pungent smell of someone’s piss. Maybe she was a sinister person, but why should she deny herself such a great joy in life. “That is great.” She finally managed to say after a moment. “Remind me to give you a prize for being such a douche.” For some reason douche and douche bag have become two of her favorite words to describe someone who is an ass. She had to admit it was kind of hot, and even if it was pretty freakin’ nasty. If someone did that to her she’d punch them in the face but it wasn’t her so she would wallow in the funniness of it all. “I’ll see you then.” Hanging up the phone she stood up. Opening the blinds in their room, she walked over to Sisi’s bed and jumped on it. “RISE AND SHINE, SLEEPING…” she paused for a moment almost saying beast and changed it quickly. “Beauty.” She finished before she climbed off the bed and ducked a flying pillow. “it is a beautiful day outside, enjoy it! Have sex, go for a run..do something beside lay around like a slob.” She gave her a grin before she gathered the dirty clothes into darks, lights, and whites before she walked over to the mirror. Checking herself out she looked at the clock and knew it was time to leave mostly because she could feel the death stare from Sierra on the back of her head. Heading out the door she closed it behind her before she walked to Jack’s room. She knocked on the door and waited for an answer she wasn’t sure if he was back yet if not she would just wait.

Since back in the day, Jack never regretted being part of his heritage. However, he most certainly didn't look forward to the day that he came into them. And ascension was something that the guys had come to fear almost. Needless to say, he wasn't looking forward to that either. Jack preferred a life of normalcy; a life that he could ultimately never have. He was an optimist. He didn't dwell on the negativity of his situation. Thus, he didn't bitch and moan at the fact that he was a witch in a coven sworn to protect their magical history. Bitching and moaning wouldn't get him anywhere, this was who he was. Not something he could turn on and off at every whim. And now, at the end of the day, since coming into his powers - he couldn't imagine his life without them. He didn't use often. The least often out of the rest of them, he supposed, but who knew if the other guys really did or didn't when he wasn't around. However, that didn't mean he still didn't use in general. Small things. That's what his father had always said. Small things weren't a danger. At least not until ascension where every little bit counted. It wasn't like a cigarette addiction, where some people got hooked while others didn't. The more one used, the more they wouldn't be able to quit. There weren't shades of gray, it was just how things worked.

He envied how some people at school had it so easy. They didn't have a destiny to carry out; no one expected anything of them. Aside from graduating high school, college, and getting a good job. Nowadays, parents didn't even seem to enforce that expectation on their children. Kids in his high school were expected to do nothing but be kids. He wished he could have that luxury. It wasn't that he'd sit on his ass and sleep all day, despite what some may argue. It was just that he wanted the option to do so. He'd certainly make something of himself whether he was a witch or not. He just wanted to be able to settle down with a wife and kids, without worrying about a secret that was life or death for him, the guys, his family, and anyone he cared about. It was a burden for them all to bear. Some relished in it, while people like him put up with it and hoped for a day that he might not have to be on his toes so much.

He laughed slightly, as he entered the bathroom. "I'll remind you to do that." He answered, with a nod of his head to a few of the other guys in the bathroom. Were there always that many people up this early? What? Couldn't people run in the afternoon? "Alright, later." He clicked the phone shut, and disposed of it into his bag. He normally didn't bring the cell phone to the bathroom with it, but he almost forgot that he wasn't communicating to Ava through telepathy - or anything that didn't require a mobile device. He didn't waste another moment before popping into the shower, just long enough to soap himself down. Maybe he should have given himself a bit longer than ten minutes. He quickly took care of his everyday morning routine necessities before making his way back to his dorm room. Once inside, he threw some clothes on. Making sure to dress in some jeans instead of just sweats, because he figured they'd head out somewhere. There wasn't much to do around the dorm. Unless one was Sierra or Tag. His hair was still wet when he heard the knock at the door, but he didn't mind it much. Besides, his hair looked just as good wet as it did dry. Stepping over, he paused before reaching for the doorknob and looked back at the hexed alarm clock. There was no way she could tell that it was going off in silence, could she? No, why would she look for such a thing to be happening in his room. Nevertheless, his eyes glazed over and he quickly threw the alarm clock from it's place on his nightstand with a wave of his fingers and into the closet. He could be a bit paranoid at times, clearly. Once the coast was clear, he pulled the door open and grinned, "Sorry, was finishing getting dressed." He stepped to the side, allowing her access. "Obviously, don't sit on Tag's bed." He smirked.

The one thing Ava prided more than her gift was her hair. Always had to style it in one way or another to stay a hard of the game. She was lame for always scooping out the biggest fads and tried to make it her own. When she decided to get her hair cut off to many people it wouldn’t be a big deal but for her it was. Once she saw the results she was amazed at how good it looked. The reason she was so concerned about her hair at that moment in time because she just got it done the day before and hasn’t seen Jack sense. She knew that he liked her not because of her looks but because of many other factors but that still didn’t stop her from wanting to look good for him. This was just one of the many ways that made her feel like she was just your average look addicted girl that felt the need to always look her best.

Standing in a t-shirt and a pair of faded holey jeans she ran her fingers through her short brown hair as she waited for the door to swing open. Glancing around the hall she saw that there was no one coming and she opened the palm of her hand. A mirror effect appeared and she checked herself out one more time. Hearing footsteps towards the door along with the knob and the creaking of the door she quickly closed her hand which caused the reflection to disappear and she dropped her arms to the side of her body. Seeing his blue eyes looking back at her with his wet messed up hair she nearly… what was she thinking she totally made a mess in her pants. She might not have been the type to flaunt her sexapades for all to see but she was a freak when it came down to it. If she could she’d raves him from head to toe but decided to remain calm- though she did make a note to change her underwear when she got home.

“It’s ok. I might be a little early after we got off the phone I woke the beast for shits and giggles and she had that eerie look in her eye of mass destruction twinkle in her eye so I ran for it.” Returning the smile she stepped inside with a laugh at his comment about Tag’s bed. “Thanks for the reminder, not like I’d sit down anyways..” she shivered slightly in disgust at the idea. “I can only image the diseases that are alive in that bed.” Taking a seat on Jack’s bed she crossed her leg over the other. “if you still need to get ready I’m in no rush so take your time.”

It would have been an understatement to say that Jack didn't pay attention to his appearance at all. He certainly did. And he certainly paid a lot more attention to his hair than the typical male would. Sometimes he wondered if Tag and Adam even washed their hair, nevermind actually groomed it. In fact the rest of the guys liked to pick on him about it more often than not. He didn't care though. Besides, he was used to being picked on for all sorts of things. He didn't care because he knew the guys didn't really mean it. And if they did, then whatever after he ascended, he'd kill them. Not really. Though, that was the one good thing about ascending. The age thing wouldn't matter anymore. He'd be just as strong as Adam and Tag. Although, knowing those two versing himself - they'd be the one using, and he'd be the one telling them to cut it out, but not using himself.

When Ava was around, he had to act normal. Obviously. Though, in order to act normal, he had to process normal thoughts. No thinking about ascending, his heritage, or magic at all. This way it was easier for him not to slip in front of her. Not that it was easy for him to slip, simply because he didn't rely on his powers for anything. After he shut the door behind her, he took the moment to look her over. Hey, he was a guy - that's what they did! Smiling at her, he moved across the room heading toward the mirror. The one he used to fix his hair, and Tag used to flex his muscles at himself. "You got your hair cut." Even had he not been obsessed with hair himself, he would have noticed that on her. He'd notice the smallest detail on Ava, because he was the type of guy that paid attention to detail. Especially with the girl of his dreams.

Pausing in front of the mirror, he looked at her through the reflection. "You're on time anyway." He said, "I just took longer than I should have." He shook his head, laughing at her comments on Tag and Sierra's sex life. "A point well made." He said, turning around to face her completely now. "She's not going to come storming in here to yell at you for waking her, is she? Because I'm still not awake enough yet to handle her wrath." He teased, his arms folding over his chest. "I'm ready though, we can head out." He paused, "Get breakfast or something?" He shrugged.

Much like Jack she didn’t completely rely on her powers which allowed her to live a pretty normal life. If she used her powers it was to get something to drink from the fridge, turn of the TV if she couldn’t find the remote, or something equally as simple. When she was out with her friends she did sometimes become careless if she got caught up in the excitement of a moment. She would use her powers when people were around to maybe spill a drink on a date gone bad, untie someone shoe string so they trip, or just little random things that could be easily dismissed as a mere accident. Or catching things she knows that are going to fall or stopping little things from happening to people. Unlike the boys, the girls were able to dig deeper into powers which allows them to receive premonitions. It was a gift she loved but at the same time hated it because she couldn’t always stop things for fear someone might catch on to what was going on.

Watching him walk towards the mirror she ran her fingers through her shorten dark hair still unable to believe she took the initiative to get it cut. Her hair was her pride and joy and now that some of it was gone it was a bit to get use to. At least she would save time trying to straighten, wash it, dry it, and whatever else she might feel like doing to spice up her look. Smiling back at him when he mentioned she had gotten her hair cut, she nodded before she spoke. “I was tired of the long hair and wanted to try something different, you like?” She honestly wanted to hear his opinion she knew due to the fact they were crazy about each other he would like it, but a compliment never hurt anyone. She was still a girl after all. Her eyes wandered over his back taking in every inch of him. He was beautiful to say the least. Brown hair, blue eyes, a killer body, and a smile that could melt even the bitchiest of bitches’ heart.

When she saw him looking at her through the mirror she quickly pulled her eyes off his ass and looked at his eyes. “You’re fine really. I could wait here all day while you got ready.” Wow could she sound any lamer then she did at that moment, probably so but she would try to remain a cook chick. Watching his movements she tilted her head when he turned to face her instead of the mirror. “Just to be safe I’d move the dresser in front of the door.” She joked back before she uncrossed her legs and walked towards him when he said he was ready to go. “One thing…” she paused and she lifted a hand to pull an imaginary fuzz ball from his shirt and flicked it on the ground. Ok maybe, she just wanted a reason to touch his chest. He was hot and she wanted him so it was ok. “Now I’m ready.” She grinned at him for a moment.

Oh, yes, using with Tag was definitely something he let himself slip into doing more often than not. Even when in the whole group, Jack remembered times where they did go overboard with their powers. It was really used when the four had somehow gotten themselves into trouble and needed to use their powers in order to skate out of it. Well, more likely, Adam or Tag had gotten them into trouble, and Jack had just been around them to witness it. He hoped one day they would listen to him, most likely not, though. Sometimes he thought they did things just because he warned them not to. He would never say, 'No. don't do that.' It was always in the form of a warning tone, because Jack never told his older friends what to do. He knew his place. And even though half the time what they were doing was completely juvenile, he still didn't typically yell at them.

It was something he fell used to doing. For being considered dangerous, for the simple fact that he had these powers, he didn't speak out of turn much to anyone. It wasn't that he was scared; it was more so just a habit he'd picked up. His parents had always taught him to be courteous, but he always took it a step further. His attention turned back to the beautiful girl sitting on his bed. Why did he continue to let nonsense float through his head while he had her there. "I do. Long, short, you could pull off any kind of hair-style." Tag would think that sounded gay. Jack didn't know what kind of hairstyles did and did not work for a girl, but he certainly did know that he liked the short hair on Ava.

It was nice to know that he wasn't the only thing that said lame things when it came to someone he was interested in. Not that he thought it was lame, but it was definitely something he didn't expect to hear from Ava. He let out a laugh when she told him to move the dresser in front of the door. Would that really stop her? She'd probably shove it down like it was a simple 2x4. "Well, I think we'll be good since we're getting out of here and this way we won't have to move any furniture." When she walked up to him, zeroing in on his chest and picking at something on his shirt, his chin rested downward to watch as she did so. After she was finished, he smiled. Picking up his head he looked to her, "Alright, let's head out." His hand dropped to grab onto her own as he led her out of his room.

Sure Ava has dated guys, but she has never really been in a serious relationship. She knew her powers were something that was going to be with her for a long time. The one problem she has always faced was the fact she must lie to them, but that came with any sort of relationship outside her covenant comfort zone. Lying was something she was a master at, but it still didn’t mean she enjoyed it especially when it came to people she cared about. She knew if she was to tell someone, like the guy she was dating, would make her vulnerable as well as the rest of the covenant. She knew that it wasn’t so uncommon for covenant members to find someone from the outside world and allow them into theirs. They knew it was dangerous but like they say, you can’t help who you love. The perfect example would be Caleb and Sarah, Adam and Abby’s mother and father, but he quickly learned that it was dangerous. That still didn’t stop them from falling in love, marriage, having children, and living a life of semi normalcy. They weren’t the only pair, but the most well known due to Caleb’s history with the 5th bloodline.

The one thing she feared the most was Jack catching on to the truth about her. She knew he wasn’t dumb like the other guys she dated who eyes were on her feminine parts rather than on other things. Jack was very perceptive and very smart. She knew he had powers and knew that if he ever caught her doing something that was “strange” it would be no problem for him to crack open a book and trace back her family roots to the beginning of it all. Sierra and her both knew about the boys but in return they had no idea. Even though she knew it was the right thing to do, in the bottom of her heart she just wanted to risk it all. To show him that he could be his complete self around her and didn’t have to fear her getting mixed up into his world since it was her as well. No guy has ever made her this crazy or this willing to risk it all just to be with him but in the back of her mind she wasn’t sure what he would do. Would he be mad she lied? Would he still hold the feud against her even though it is hundreds of years old? Or would he accept it and still care and want to be with her? These were all questions floating around in her mind, but she has managed to hide her fears with a big smile and carefree attitude.

She knew if they put the dresser in front of the door with a quick move of her finger sisi would be inside the room giving Ava hell for waking her up. But hey, at least now Sisi has more hours in the day to eat, shower, fuck, eat again, and fuck some more. It was a win win situation her in her eyes. “Plus, I don’t think the dresser could with stand her rage.” She joked as she smiled at him. “Yes, yes..” She tried to get serious but failed. “We better hurry before she catches my scent and attacks.” Wrinkling her nose at the comment she laughed knowing that she always seemed to crack herself up and sometimes she was the only one. When he took her hand she felt butterflies in her stomach she has every time he touches her. There was something about his skin on her skin that just sent these shivers down her spin and caused her heart to leap into her throat. Following him out of the room she pulled the door shut behind him. Part of her was so use to waving a hand and it shutting by itself but she had to control her urge to revert back into habits.

The times that Jack did think about telling a girl who he was, instead of hiding it and wanting to protect said girl, would quickly be squashed when he realized that there was even more to it than just that. Would a girl be able to accept the fact that he had powers? Wouldn't the girl think he was a complete freak and take off running in the other direction? If the shoe had been on the opposite foot, he wasn't sure he'd be able to take such a secret. Though, it was hard for him to clearly see that point of view, when not actually in that side of the situation, but he could imagine somewhat. Just another reason why he couldn't tell Ava who he was. If not for her own safety, but more so that he could keep her liking him. Maybe that was selfish, but his heritage had cost him enough things. And if he could hold onto something good, even if just for a little while, he'd take advantage of that.

He didn't want to think about Sierra busting down his dorm door anymore. The image was slightly frightening, and he had to deal with the girl enough as it was. He chuckled softly at Ava's comments, finding it amusing that even one of her closest friends feared her in a sense. Or at least could admit how scary she was. Still clutching her hand, he pulled her out the door and allowed her to shut it behind them. "Want to just get McDonalds or did you want to go sit and eat at Ihop or something?" He questioned, turning to glance at her, offering a smile. It honestly didn't matter much to him where they went. He just wanted to get out of the dorms, and an excuse to hang out with her was even better. Things seemed so normal like this. So simple, but once he'd dig a little deeper, he knew that things were more complicated than that. Sure, she never questioned him, or asked him things like 'so are we together', so he lucked out there. He didn't want to have to lie to her anymore than he already had. If she asked him about their relationship status, he'd hate to see how the conversation would turn out. He'd probably end up losing her without scaring her off.

Ava often wondered what their offical title was, but she liked to keep things from being too definded. There were no other guys in her life and assumed that it was the same for him..well she hoped there were no other guys but she did have some compitetion against Adam and Tag. All joking aside, she just felt that without being completely honest about it that there were no other girls in his life like that, and if there was there wasn’t much she could do about it. They were friends but they both knew the relationship stemmed a lot deep than that just neither was willing to question what they were or weren’t. She hated lying to him now she could only dreed being his girlfriend and lying. Relationships were supposed to be built on trust, but the sad thing is, much like Sisi and Tag, there relationships weren’t completely honest. If one came clean that means the other would too since it would be obvious to Jack. He would question, and that would led him to dig into the histroy. Ava was honestly surprised that neither Jack nor Tag have figured it out yet.

Once the door was closed behind them they began their journey down the hall. Running her free hand through her hair she looked over at him when he questioned where she wanted to eat. “Mickey D’s sounds good. I have been craving it.” When her hand was done messing with her hair it founds its way to where her other one ways. Her fingers slowly danced up and down the skin of his forearm as they walked. It was nice just being next to him and not worrying about everything else that plagues her mind but sometimes her mind often drifted to the ‘what ifs’ so she tried to block them out to enjoy their time together. She was falling for him and that was clear to see anytime someone metioned his name, when she saw him walking down the hall with that smirk and his beautiful blue eyes, the goofy grin she gets when she daydreams about him, and of course the way she gets all girly and blushes like a school girl whenever someone teases her about him. She was sure certain people wouldn’t approve, but as long as Sisi had her back when it came to dealing with that she was all good in the end.

He didn't think she was seeing any other guys. And if she was, they certainly didn't get a lot of her time. From what Jack saw, she was either with him or the girls. If she was, however, there wasn't anything he could say or do about it. Sure, he'd definitely envy the guy because he could move in on Ava whenever he wanted to, without having to harbor a secret such as Jack did. And although, he'd feel a twinge of jealousy; jealousy wasn't really his thing. More than anything, he wanted her happy. Sometimes he didn't really think he could ever make her happy, and he felt as if he was wasting her time. That didn't stop him, though. He came to the conclusion that he was being selfish, especially if he didn't really plan on making their title official. Did he plan on not making it official? He didn't know himself. He wasn't the kind to act on impulse, but the only way he'd ever really ask her to be his girlfriend would be if they were caught up in a moment.

He gave her a small nod, turning to face the hallway as they continued toward the exit. "Mickey D's it is." He conceded. His free hand came up to massage at his chin lightly before connecting with the door in front of them. Allowing her access, he exited out after her and into the stairway. Dropping his hand back to his side, he realized he didn't have his cell phone on him. He paused momentarily, cause her to stop a bit as well seeing as they were connected at the hand. He decided against going back for it. At most Tag and Adam would text him, but he doubted it would be of any importance. Besides, they were just going to McDonalds, they wouldn't be long. When he saw the questioning look on her face, he offered another smile and continued down the stairs. "Left my cell phone in the room." He told her.

Ava was one that would admit she was jealous of someone even if she was. She tried to remain composed at all times, but she knew if she saw Jack with another girl in less than a friendly way she would have to control the urge to do something mean to her. She wanted Jack to be happy and would support that in any way even if that meant them never really acting on their feelings towards each other. She knew that things with Jack would probably not turn into anything other than a strong flirty relationship it would be selfish of her to be jealous if he found another girl to be with. Honestly, she had nothing to worry about because he seemed to keep girls at arm’s length and wasn’t really into anyone at that moment in time. And in return, If Jack was being selfish then she didn’t mind. She loved spending time with him and wished she could spend more time with him. If she wasn’t with him or the girls she was doing homework, reading the book of damnation, practicing with her powers, or playing tennis. No matter the case she always made sure to make time for everything which stressed her out at times when it came to exams or something really important like that but honestly who isn’t stressed out? Plus, the moment she was with her friends or around Jack everything just felt right and it melted away the thoughts raging like a volcano through her head.

Walking through the door to the staircase she felt him stop for a second which caused a tug on her hand which turned her attention to him with a wondering eye as to what just happened. When he explained he forgot his cell phone and she nodded as she followed him down the stair case. Without thinking she powered the phone to her pocket when she felt it appear she had a lump in her throat should she lie and say she grabbed it before they left or should see put it back? Within a few seconds she powered the phone back to his room where he left it before she continued to follow him out of the building hand in hand. “If Tag or someone needs to get a hold of you I am sure they know you are with me and they have the number.” Her eyes moved to look up at the sky as the warm sun shined on her skin. She loved the sun and it always seemed to put her in a good mood. Giving his hand a light squeeze she kissed his cheek gently before she turned her attention to all the people enjoying the bright sun.

Jack had been taught to simply to take everything in stride. Well, really, he wasn't exactly taught, he came to learn it on his own terms. Maybe because he was always the butt of a joke it just built him up to take everything with a grain of salt. Including seeing a girl he liked with another girl. While one couldn't help their emotions, and Jack was no exception to this rule, he was always able to keep his anger or jealously in check. Which is why he virtually wasn't a jealous person. He often linked a jealous person, with someone who couldn't control their rage in a sense. And while that wasn't the correct definition, it was his take on it. He'd never seen Ava with another guy, thus it hadn't really been tested yet. Though, still he knew damn well he wouldn't say a think or do anything stupid. The last part was still up for debate, but time would probably tell.

His hand was still connected with hers, though he had the tendency to make a decision and simply tugged at her to follow along. Which was what he had done in this case. Although, she was following behind him, the back of the hairs on his neck stood on end. He had distantly felt someone using. It wasn't something the guys could normally feel, but Jack had been around them trying to use in secret enough to know the feeling in the air. His brow furrowed, as they continued down the staircase - the only ones in the staircase. He let her catch up to him when they reached the bottom, and thats when he saw the ripple from her pocket. He couldn't freeze in his place, simply because she'd know that he'd seen it. At the same time though, it was the first time he'd ever seen anything like this. A girl - or anyone else besides him and the three guys - using. What did that mean? As they entered outside, his head tilted down when he felt the squeeze, and the kiss to his cheek had caught him off guard. He faltered a moment, before offering her a smile. Leave it to him to get put in this situation. Well, if he was planning on hurting him, she wouldn't have alarmed him in anyway by using. He still wasn't sure what this meant, but he was going to find out. For now, he'd carry on. "I'm feeling a sausage biscuit." He turned to her, "What'll you have?" He tried hard to play off he hadn't seen anything.

Jealousy was something that was the last thing on her mind. She could be at times, but she never acted stupid about it. She was able to control her emotions which were something anyone with her powers needed to learn. If you were made you couldn’t go spouting proof of your powers. You had to keep in toe no matter what and she did for the most part. They were human after all so she was sure she has slipped up when she was caught up in the mood but always regretted letting an emotion get the best of her. The one thing she hoped was that if Jack found out about her he wouldn’t think she was after him to try destroying him or the covenant that was the last thing she would ever do. She honestly cared a hell of a lot about him as well as the other guys. They have become her friends and she would never want to lose them. They were the closet thing she had to a family since her home life wasn’t always completely perfect.

Maybe she was being paranoid but she could have sworn he caught her but when he didn’t say anything she figured it was all in her head. She didn’t have to just worry about losing Jack, but also the fact it would out the whole female covenant they thought had vanished long ago as well as ruining things between Tag and Sisi. From that moment on she had to walk on egg shells around Jack encase Jack had actually saw her. Then she began to think of all the loop poles. She didn’t actually lie to him since he never was like ‘hey ava you got powers?’ it wasn’t a got milk ad. Shaking all the thoughts rushing through her head she concentrated on his question what did she feel like having? “That actually sounds good, with one of their hash browns. Those are my fave things next to their fries.” She stated with a smile on her face.

His curiosity always got the best of him. Perhaps that was why he was always the one reading the pages of his family's history; why he was always the one digging into things. Being so observant often drove him crazy, for the simply fact that stuff would gnaw at him until he got to the truth. And the current situation was getting increasingly harder to get through. He wasn't about to ask her, because even if he blew her cover - it would also be potentially blowing his own as well. If he was wrong, how would he explain to her why he was asking her about magical powers? How silly would that sound? He tried hard to focus on her and only her, but he stated getting ahead of himself. He didn't know her at all. More importantly, how could he explain asking a girl to spend the day with him and then bailing on her? After doing some research on her own history; if he proved himself wrong then he would most certainly make it all up to her. Jack wasn't typically wrong about things, but he hoped to god he was.

On the other hand, if she did have powers and wasn't looking for his Covenant, could it possibly be a more bonding experience between the two? Though, what were the odds of a girl with powers being in Salem, Mass and have absolutely no connection to it? Not to mention, she did seem to travel in a pack of her own; just like he did. Another realization hit him, and he shifting uncomfortably. Did that mean Sierra had powers, too? He almost dreaded that in itself, thinking about his best buddy. Tag sure as hell didn't know she did, if that was the case. Getting ahead of himself again. "Yeah, hash browns." He nodded. He'd barely even heard what she had said. "I..." He started, then stopping himself from speaking. Then, he stopped them both completely. ".. I hate to do this, but I just remembered I had to head to my parents house this morning." Digging into his pocket, he fished out a twenty and handed it to her. "Meet up with you afterwards, though?" He offered a smile, hoping she wouldn't be mad. "Buy all the hashbrowns you want." Leaning inward, he pressed a lingering kiss to her cheek, then took a step back and released her hand. "Guess it's a good thing Tag woke me up this morning, otherwise I wouldn't have shown up. Get Sierra something, too, maybe she won't kill you then." He commented with a grin, as he walked backwards. "I'll call later." And he would.

You didn’t have to be a psychologist to realize just how tense the moment had gotten. She could tell by the way he started to grip her hand that something was on her mind. That was when it clicked that he might have really saw her and the lively color drained from her cheeks the moment he began to stubble almost to find a good enough lie. She has been lied to by guys time and time again so she could pick it up. It had nothing to do with her power, but the pure fact she could read people. When she graduated high school she planned on going to college for psychology so she had read up on the subject plus she was taking a class on the subject. To say she wasn’t scared would be an understatement. All the thoughts she was dreading were now becoming a reality all because of her stupidity. She cared that if he found out it would out her and Sisi as well as the covenant that has managed to stay hidden behind a belief that it had died out. The thing that scared her the most was the fact that Jack may never want to speak to her again and would end up pushing her way like he was now. When his lips touched her cheek to say her heart didn’t break would be an lie because it did into a million pieces. Even if he still didn’t have a clue about her the whole idea of him backing out of the plans crushed her. Maybe she was over reacting but who honestly knew what was going on inside that head of his at the moment and she knew only time would tell.

She clinched the money in her hand after he had given it to her and she chewed gently on the inside of her bottom lip. Shaking her head she tried to keep the smile on her face like it was no big deal that he was bailing to do something he ‘forgot’ but it didn’t take a genius to see the hurt in her eyes. “No keep it. You will just owe me next time.” She handed the money back before he completely walked away from her. Once he had the money she turned on her heels and dug inside her pockets as she closed her eyes and let out a small sigh. When he said he’d call her she turned her head to look back at him. “K. Later.” She gave him a smile before she began to walk away back towards her room. She really needed to speak to Sisi. It was that moment she realized she was up shit creek without a paddle. She had to explain to Sisi what had happen and the possibility that Jack was onto them. She kept hoping and praying she was just being paranoid but she had a feeling in her gut that she wasn’t. God, could she have been any more stupid to have done that? She just hoped that Sisi wouldn’t get mad at her, but she could have just ruined two relationships and outed the covenant with one stupid move. If they found out about them she didn’t know what would happen. It wasn’t like the old days where they would have to go to trial and be judged and then murdered. But the idea, even as farfetched as it was sent a shiver down her spine. She tried to be a strong person, but for small moment she felt like her whole world was crashing down around her. SNAP OUT OF IT. She screamed inside of her head. She didn’t know if he knew she was just assuming, and you know what happens when you assume you make and ass out of you and me.
